Protecting cats large and small
What I’m Doing
In May 2019 Katzi’s founder Tracey Sweetland signed up to a 10-day challenge to help raise money for the Cats Protection charity which does such vital work in protecting cats in a variety of ways across the UK.
The challenge takes place in August 2020 and involves three days of canoeing down the Zambezi river in Zambia, Africa, and another seven days taking part in conservation work to look after the big cats that live there.
As part of her involvement Tracey has pledged to raise £5,000 to support the work of the Spalding branch of Cats Protection – a cause close to her heart as a cat lover and a mad cat lady!
Tracey said: “Although I love Africa and I’m sure the trip will be a lot of fun, it will not be plain sailing for me (pardon the pun!).
“I am stepping way outside my comfort zone, having never even been in a canoe before.
“I will also be camping on the banks of the river, surrounded by the wildlife and the dangers it poses, as well as sharing the experience with about 20 strangers – which may get tricky for an introvert like me!”

Attend a fundraising event
In the coming months Tracey will be holding a number of fundraising events and doing some crazy stuff to raise the money she needs.
One method she hopes to raise money is by incorporating a small donation of £1 into the cost of every item sold on Katzi.
This means every time you buy, you will be taking Tracey a step closer to her fundraising total and boosting the coffers of causes that look after domestic cats in the UK and lions in Africa.
Tracey added: “I would really appreciate any support you can offer and as well as shopping on Katzi, there are a number of other ways you can help too.
“I know you love cats as much as I do, so please give what you can so I can help them have a better, safer and more secure life, whichever continent they live on and the threats and dangers they face.”
Donate every time you shop…
Every time you buy something from Katzi £1 will go towards the Zambezi Challenge total to supports Cats Protection in the UK and vital lion conservation projects in Zambia and neighbouring African countries.
Please visit my JustGiving page to keep up to date with how I am faring in my fundraising efforts and to pledge your support.
Every little bit helps, so please just give what you can – it will make such a big difference to the cats and kittens that come into the care of Spalding’s Cats Protection.
GoRaise is a brilliant scheme which means you can add to my fundraising total without it costing you a penny.
Instead hundreds of retailers will donate a percentage or fixed amount every time you shop online.

Sponsor or Support
I will keep you posted on any Zambezi news and events in my regular Katzi newsletter, as well as add details on how I’m getting on and what’s coming up on this page.
If anyone has any suggestions for fundraising or would like to help me reach my target by simply sponsoring me, please do get in touch.
I want to share the joy of loving and owning cats (or do they own us?) by emblazoning messages, mottos and cool images of moggies all over T-shirts, hoodies, vests and more, such as notebooks, totes, mugs and make-up bags.
As well as providing you with high quality products dedicated to cats, Katzi is also dedicated to raising money towards my Zambezi Challenge fundraising target to support Cats Protection’s work in this country and lion conservation projects in Africa.
I endeavour to reflect my core values of honesty, fairness and respect in all of my dealings with everyone I encounter, including my customers. I also aim to demonstrate my gratitude for their support of my business and its aims.
